Hi Spartans!
I’m Henry Riley, your News Editor and Co-Editor-in-Chief at Sword & Shield. Happy November! I hope you had a fun and safe Halloween and that all is going well in school.
This month’s issue includes lots of amazing articles in Arts & Entertainment, like a new monthly crochet pattern, a review of Smiling Friends Season Three, and coverage of Shelby Oaks, a timely new horror movie.
We have some super cool clubs to share with you as well, with pieces on VPM Drama, Book Club, and of course, Spartan News. If you want to get involved with any of these groups, please check out the articles with important information!
This past month has been yet another eventful one in the news sphere, so we are going to catch you up as best we can. This issue will have articles on the ongoing federal government shutdown, the federal government blaming Tylenol for causing autism, and an aid flotilla to Gaza amid the crisis there.
In sports, we will have a breakdown of the huge gambling investigation and the arrests that followed this past week, as well as a recap of the VPM varsity football season, which concluded two weeks ago.
Lastly, we have another month of great opinion pieces on everything from AI memes to picky eating. Opinions will also include discussions on transgender individuals’ participation in sports and the Amish.
If you’ve ever had any topic you’ve wanted to share your thoughts on, we’d love to see you at a meeting soon! If you’re interested in writing for the Sword & Shield, we meet on Thursdays in the photo lab (Room 1716). Our planning meeting for the December issue will be this coming Thursday, November 6th. See you there!
