Checklist to start the school year!

The semester is coming to an end and the pressure of ending with good grades is getting heavier and heavier. This year is a little different from the past three years. Instead of ‘Bridge Week,’ this year we will being having a ‘Demonstration of Learning.’ Each teacher/subject will have a project, final, etc. that will have material from all of the past semester. If you do well on the ‘Demonstrations of Learning,’ it could benefit your grade!

Here are some tips before going into the week with ‘Demonstration of Learning.’

  1. Meet with your teachers. Even if you only have a small question it can be very beneficial to meet with your teachers. This will not only help you with your grades but also may make your class experience better.
  2.  If you can’t/won’t meet with your teachers, another good way to help your grades is to meet with a peer tutor. If you contact your counselor they will be able to find a peer tutor that can help you in your classes.
  3. Stay caught up on your homework. I know that is easier said than done, but if you make a goal for yourself to have at least the majority of your homework done by the end of the week, you will get less behind and know what questions you may still have.
  4. A good way to help you complete the goal of completing your homework is to try studying with friends. This can make doing your homework and studying seem less terrible. If you need a place to study, there are free rooms at the Madison, Fitchburg, and Verona public libraries that you can check out for a period of time.
  5. It is also important to get enough sleep, exercise, and eat healthily. All of these things will make you feel better and prevent you from getting sick. This will help you do your best work and will keep you from getting behind in school.
