School is almost over for the Spartans and the AP tests have come and went. I was lucky enough to take five of them and will be sharing the good, the bad and the ugly about the AP exams this year. To start, the new testing online was very nice on my overall test taking durability. I was able to come out of the tests with no hand cramps or chronic joint pain. This was a big upside especially in my AP Gov and Lit exams where writing was a large part of the test. Additionally the test was sped up by the computers. We had no wasted time waiting for proctors to give us breaks or start tests again. However some parts were the same length, specifically the reading of the AP instructions before the test was very long and usually pushed us 5 or so minutes over the start time even though it was supposed to be less this year. Overall test quality remained very high and I felt safe in my answers, confidentiality and the amount of paper I was using. This was somewhat limited however by the large amounts of scratch paper that were given and then we had to write the date, name of test, and our own name on each sheet of paper. But barring this and the crashing of Blue Book nationwide during the Psych exam the tests ran well and everything worked as it should. As a student of change these past four years I can confidently say I believe that this change has helped make the AP test a friendlier experience for all.
