Formula One is known for the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. You can be the winner of this week’s grand prix to the loser of the next, and looking at getting kicked off your team. With this in mind, it is no surprise that many at Red Bull are frustrated with what has happened in the last six months of racing.
For context, in the last two years, Red Bull has won almost every single grand prix with their star driver Max Verstappen, and a unique car with a Honda engine. This has led to many fans becoming dissatisfied with the sport as having only one race winner for years on end gets pretty boring. This prompted the FIA, directors of Formula One, to put in place new changes for the 2024 season limiting Redbulls success. And they have worked to a stunning degree with Redbull only winning a few of the starting races of the year and then petering out into the spring, summer, and fall races. This is evident in a recent Azerbaijan race where Max finished 6th and his teammate did not finish.
All of this has culminated in many people being scared of whether Redbull and Max can win the drivers and constructors championships at the end of the year. Right now Max still leads Lando Norris from McClaren and Redbull is still ahead of McClaren but that lead is quickly falling, turning the end of this season into a true spectacle.
So while Redbull may not be gracing the podium as much these days and they have certainly had a fall from grace, it is turning into quite the finish for a Formula One season with no one team clear on the horizon. Right now Red Bull’s best hope is that other middling teams steal points from McClaren and they are not able to get enough points to beat Red Bull however, this looks very unlikely.
