The school year is almost over Spartans! That means a long summer break and fun days for most until the fall comes around again. Most people end the school year relieved and with a sense of accomplishment as one more step in their life is complete. But more often than not, many students end it with a sense of regret. Whether it be you didn’t get the class you wanted this year, or your grades didn’t turn out the right way, or maybe you didn’t get into a summer internship or weren’t hired for a job. Plenty of things spoil peoples summers, and the end of their school years. So what can be done about this problem?
I like to look at the bright side and encourage you to do the same, but what should you look for? Well there are always a few things to be proud of at the end of the school year. Like you finished an AP class or made a bunch of new friends. Maybe you made friends in your AP class? Humans tend to focus on the negatives rather than the positives, so it’s important that even though you may feel regret or sadness at the end of the year that you focus on the positive of what you accomplished during that year. One great way to do this is to celebrate them! You could invite your friends that you made in your AP class over and have a party to congratulate yourselves for surviving a rigorous course. Or you could watch a movie on a book you guys had to read in english over the year. There are plenty of options to recognize your achievements.
So if you are feeling down or sad at the end of the school year, take a step back and relish in all you have achieved. Whether you are a senior leaving for college or a freshman with just one year under their belt, everyone has something they can be proud of and it’s important that you take the time to really acknowledge everything that you have done.
