Spartans, the election is upon us! As such, many seniors will be eligible to vote this year! However, the details of where and how to do so can sometimes be confusing and unclear. Hopefully, this article will remedy that so you can exercise your right to vote and participate in democracy as a U.S. citizen!
First, you can register to vote through the MyVote Wisconsin website, where you can become an eligible voter with a valid driver’s license or permit or other registered ID. The state uses this information to match your registration to the information that they have on file with the DMV.
Second, now that you are registered to vote, you can locate your polling place. This can be found on the same state website on the “Find My Polling Place” page.
Finally, go vote! Make a plan ahead of time to ensure that you can fill out your ballot on time. Conveniently, there is no school on Election Day this year, so you will have more time to vote. Look for when your polling place is open (most Wisconsin precincts close at 8:00 PM) and head there on Election Day (Tuesday, November 5th) to participate in the election. Please make sure to bring a valid form of ID to your polling place!
If you are still unsure about how or where to vote, simply go to the MyVote Wisconsin website for more information. If you can’t find what you are looking for there, you can reach the State Elections Commission at [email protected] or by calling (608)-266-8005.
