Smiling Friends is an interesting show that grasps your attention with amazing voice actors, a variety of animation styles, and hilarious lines that are right on brand for a story published at Adult Swim. If you haven’t heard of this show before, then you’re missing out on a lot of comedy.
This story follows the fictional charity Smiling Friends, a non-profit organization dedicated to making people smile as much as possible. The organization has 4 workers: Glep (a small green guy who wears a green Wizard hat), Charlie (a yellow guy who wears an orange hoodie and a hunter hat), Pimp (a short pink guy with a button-up shirt and pants), and Allan (a tall red guy with a tie). Their founder and boss is named Mr. Boss, a character who’s design features an unusually large head. Every day, Charlie and Pimp go on interesting adventures, figuring out how to make their client smile while also learning about themselves. On rare occasions, we see a bigger mix of teammates who work together to make their client smile. The show has some interesting lines that are well-known across social media platforms. An example is “Frowning Friends, of course, f*** that genius. WHY didn’t I think of that?” Another is “I JUST WANTED MY CHEESEEE.”
The third season of Smiling Friends was released on October 5th, 2025. All of their fans were excited to see how directors Zach Hadel and Michael Cusack would use their creativity to move the story forward.
In the first episode of the new season, Charlie and Pimp are sent out to make a client, Silly Samuel, smile because no one takes him seriously enough. At the same time, Allan and Mr. Boss are busy distracting the city inspector from how their building is completely violating all safety regulations. A classic episode of Smiling Friends to start the season with.
In episode 2, Charlie and Pimp are sent out to help Mr. Frog, who is, unfortunately, the most powerful character in the show. He feels empty after having achieved all of his goals, which included being a ruler of all the continents, stealing the Mona Lisa, and dating a Hollywood celebrity. This episode, strangely enough, is meant to convince the audience that family is one of the most important parts of life, to the point that the audience themselves will want to reconnect with their families again. One of the reasons for this is that Mr. Frog regrets cutting contact with his family and missing his mother’s funeral, leading to a lot of regret. There is more to the episode than can be explained in words because it’s truly an astounding story. Moments like these have led the show to become successful to the point where they were able to hire one of the actors from the iconic show, The Office.
Episode 3 of Smiling Friends has already been released as well, with episode 4 coming soon. These episodes from the third season have surpassed the expectations of many. All of the characters have unique side stories that captivate the audience. The show has a good story overall, as well as a very unique art style where many of the characters are animated in different ways and time frames. In addition the influence of another Adult Swim show, Robot Chicken, can be seen in the humor of this show’s dialogue. If you ever have any spare time and want to watch something with a fresh sense of humor, exquisite animation, and a good quality story, watch Smiling Friends.
