Alien Romulus was released on Aug 16, 2024, and came with some big anticipation. Many movies in the Alien franchise have been well received, so Alien: Romulus had a lot to live up to. The movie as a whole was very good, and it kept the action flowing from the first, second, and third act. Everything plays a pivotal role in defining the characters and the story. From the starting world and ship, to the space station, to leaving the space station, there were multiple times when it looked like all was lost. This sets big stakes in the movie as our young cast runs around a derelict station being chased by aliens only to make it to their ship (which of course has more aliens on it), all while they are trying to get cryo pods to go to a faraway planet. All in all, it is a tremendously good sci-fi horror movie with tons of jumpscares and very good world-building and sci-fi elements. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good scare or a good story where you don’t need to know much about the previous Alien movies to understand and you can just jump into the action.
