The college football playoffs are over, with this year the Washington Huskies and Michigan Wolverines making it to the final game. Both teams had undefeated records all season, with Washington’s spanning back to early last year.
Washington was the favored team in the game as their star quarterback Micheal Jr. Penix had a great year and looked like a frontrunner for the Heisman trophy. But the Michigan Wolverines had other plans with a stalwart defense all year they had been used to always being in the lead and had an amazing run game. This ultimately led to Washington’s downfall as their defense was woefully unprepared for a Michigan run game that was as put together as Michigans.
The Huskies on the other side struggled to get Penix clicking as he overthrew and looked disconnected from his receivers all night long. This led to the Huskie loss in a staggering 34-13 final score with Michigan winning. Michigan’s quarterback was ecstatic that they had won because last year they failed in the finals and he had vowed to come back and win. In the end Michian had a better play calling ability with a great run game and defense. The only sack of the night went to Michigan and they constantly outplayed the Huskies on the line and confused them the whole game.
The Huskies will try to bounce back next year but will lose Penix, a key part of their offense, which will hopefully make for some dynamic changeups in how they play to get back to the championships.
