No one likes a cheater. Whether you’re playing a sport, or taking a test, or even writing a paper it sucks when there is someone abusing and breaking rules to gain an advantage over the system. Recently at the Tacoma Open (a massive Warhammer 40000 tournament with over 100 players) a player in it cheated and broke rules in order to gain an advantage. Now I will spare you the details of how he cheated, as Warhammer is a complicated game with many rules but even after he was found to be cheating the judges only docked him ten points and told him not to do it. So he kept doing it and led up to the final recorded game benign him cheating and abusing rules to win while it was being streamed to the world. This sparked massive online debates about how he was cheating and what the judges should have done. It culminated in him surrendering his victory and writing an apology statement about it which pleased many people but left others feeling like it was not enough. Just like any other sport warhammer rules are taken very seriously and it is similar to someone cheating on a test or breaking a rule in football and not getting a penalty. The player responded with a reddit post in which he outlined that he was very sorry and that he should have lost due to sloppy play if not for the cheating and would drop out of future events to work on his play and do better next time.
