Is Don’t Worry Darling a remarkable film or are you just a Harry Styles Fan?

Director Olivia Wilde’s second film Don’t Worry Darling features Florence Pugh (Alice Chambers), Harry Styles (Jack Chambers) among many other well known actors, and premiered in the United States on September 23, 2022. Set in the 1950s, the film follows a woman (Alice) living with her husband (Jack) in the idealized, experimental community called Victory. While the men work their top secret jobs throughout the day, the wives stay home soaking in the luxury of the seemingly perfect paradise. However, Alice soon starts to question her role in Victory when she experiences a series of sinister parallels between her own life and one that is all too familiar.

Throughout the production, the movie received an abundance of attention regarding the relationships between cast members, especially the rumored relationship concerning Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles. Some thought of this affair as no more than a PR stunt to attract focus to the film, but others believe it to be real since the film had already piqued the interest of Harry Styles fans across the globe.

Since its release, the movie has received a rotten tomatoes score from critics of only 38%. However, the audience has given Don’t Worry Darling a much higher score of 78%. Now it is no secret that Styles is a beloved performer and public figure to many, but does his charm hide the deep mediocrity of the film as a whole? Although the script had potential to make DWD an impressive film, many say it could have certainly been executed better. Nevertheless, diehard fans will continue to purchase tickets to the film and show up time and time again to express their loyalty to the favored British icon.
