When you think of an animation studio, you could easily identify the artistic style that Animation Studio defaults to.
For example, when you think of Ghibli Studio, you would think of the simple character look with the breathtaking background. Another Example would be Pixair Studio or DreamWorks, you immediately think of the 3D world with its semirealistic background.
During these modern times, where you hope the animation studio has grown more, with a greater flow of artistic talent, the burst of creativity has nowhere to be seen by animation studios because they have begun taking the route of remaking a live film of the previous movie. The new founder has picked the route of greed instead of childhood. For example, Disney has lately been making excuses for live films by using nostalgia — the live action has minimal expression of emotion, but the presence is only to fuel capitalism while Disney suppressed a show called “The Owl House” created by Dana Terrance, which had one of the top-notch storytelling, a beautiful, systematic world, and was full of unique, diverse character design that you wished to see more of in the story. Instead, it led to a situation of bringing the deadline forward for the artist early.
Additionally, I suggest that the Animation studio should fuel more of the creative artists and time to make more Classic Projects.
Sony Animation Studio has been making successful movies that make their movies memorable with talented artists. For example, “Into the Spider-Verse” has a time and full freedom of art style, showing the fear, guilt, and maturity of the main character, Miles Morales, of becoming the next Spider-Man in his universe; respectively showing some humor and statistically making $683.8 million with the budget of $90 million. We couldn’t fathom how the animator nailed the character’s emotional moment in a sudden situation that led them to deserve the Oscar. Another example where Sony allowed the talented directors to express their own sense of creativity and style in the film is K-pop Demon Hunter, which was awarded as one of Netflix’s original movies and continues to receive recognition due to its addictive song and characters; it made a profit of between 16 and 20 million dollars during its limited theatrical run and have 200 million people savor the movie. You can tell the total difference of artistic decisions between the two movies, but it continued to become one of the most popular movies. Even if other animation studios continue to make excuses for upcoming failures, that will be a lasting image of the studio. Reminders that Sony Animation picture movie studio was the original creator of the film “Emoji”, which was being mocked and claimed to be one of the worst movies, with a ranking of 6.5 out of 10 on IMDb.
Mistakes always help a person to be better than their previous self by giving themselves time to reflect. If you want to mock your competitors for making a bunch of live movies, then use the power of animation to show the true original. Otherwise, I wanted to see more animation studios become more experimental with new art styles than continue staying in their default ways, or upcoming indie animation studios crush down greed.
