Hello Spartans! I’m the Sword & Shield Opinions editor, Amalia Weix. I hope everyone is having a great 4th Quarter, and feeling ready to run the AP Test gauntlet (unless you’re a freshman, in which case, savor your fleeting youth).
May is a busy month for students, which makes a busy month for the Sword & Shield—Student Life is doing some heavy lifting, covering AP Testing, Prom, Spirit Day, and some info on the other Spring Play, the Grown-Ups. Meanwhile, in Arts & Entertainment, we have reviews on shows like The Last of Us. Over in News, Henry’s breaking down the stock market, the results of recent Wisconsin elections, and our Secretary of Defense’s unfortunate group chat habits. Sports is recapping March Madness, VPM’s Spring Sports, and some recent drama in F1. The Opinions are piping hot—literally, with the controversial claim that “Steve’s Lava Chicken” from the Minecraft Movie is the song of the year. We’ve also got some articles opining on the casting decisions of the recently announced Beatles biopics, the importance of trigger warnings, and whether or not YA Dystopias actually count as dystopias. Also, a second live-action How To Train Your Dragon remake was announced, so check out my condensed, simmered hate for that in article form!
