Spirit Day is back, Spartans! If you didn’t know, Spirit Day is an annual volunteering event organized by Spartan Youth Service (SYS) that brings close to 300 Memorial volunteers to our feeder elementary schools for a day of volunteer service. High school students will spend around 4 hours helping with recess, lunch, reading, gardening, and more at one of these elementary schools. This year, Spirit Day is on Friday, May 23rd, and students will be gone from around 9 to 1:30, returning to complete a service project here at Memorial. Transportation via buses (except for Muir, which volunteers will walk to) and a Chick-fil-A coupon and Culver’s Scoopie Token will be provided to all volunteers as well!
Unfortunately, we have already reached capacity for Spirit Day sign-ups this year, with over 300 people who signed up, so you’ll have to wait for next year if you want to participate and haven’t signed up. However, if you have signed up, today (May 1st) is the deadline to turn in your permission slip! If you haven’t done so already, please pick one up from the main office and turn it back in to Ms. Kica in the main office by today.
We are looking forward to a fun day of volunteering!
