How To Start the First Few Weeks of Second Semester Strong
February 6, 2023
Now that we are a couple of weeks into the second semester, the amount of homework and tests may start to increase. But you don’t need to worry! You can still start this semester off great, here are a couple of ideas on how to do so.
- Meet with your teachers. Even if you have little to no questions it is a good idea to meet with your teachers. You may have new classes this semester and it is a good idea to get to know your teacher. This will not only help you with your grades but also may make your class experience better.
- If you can’t/won’t meet with your teachers, another good way to help your grades is to meet with a peer tutor. If you contact your counselor they will be able to find a peer tutor that can help you in your classes.
- Stay caught up on your homework. I know that is easier said than done, but if you make a goal for yourself to have at least the majority of your homework done by the end of the week, you will get less behind and know what questions you may still have.
- A good way to help you complete the goal of completing your homework is to try studying with friends. This can make doing your homework and studying seem less terrible. If you need a place to study, there are free rooms at the Madison, Fitchburg, and Verona public libraries that you can check out for a period of time.
- Sign up for more clubs! For many clubs, it is not too late to sign up. Clubs like SYS give you great volunteer opportunities and are not too late to sign up!
- It is also important to get enough sleep, exercise, and eat healthily. All of these things will make you feel better and prevent you from getting sick. This will help you do your best work and will keep you from getting behind in school.
