Emmy award-winning show Interview With the Vampire<\/em> is returning to AMC+ June 7th, this time with a total rebrand. The new season, now titled The Vampire Lestat<\/em>, will feature an entirely new storyline and main character, based off of the second book of The Vampire Chronicles.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

This new season will focus entirely on Lestat de Lioncourt, and will provide an alternate perspective on the recollections from Interview With the Vampire<\/em>, with additional modern-day plot points. Similar to the book, the 266 year old vampire will be seen forming a rock band in order to get the attention of his estranged partner, Louis de Pointe du Lac.<\/p>\n

While Lestat was a major character in the first two seasons, he was only onscreen during flashbacks, apart from an entire five minutes in the last episode of season two. This new season, however, will focus entirely on him and his life story, and will feature other characters beloved by fans of the book series.<\/p>\n

Trailers for the new series have shown both Gabriella de Lioncourt and Marius de Romanus, characters who are extremely important to the plot but who weren\u2019t featured in Interview With the Vampire<\/em>. Additionally, nearly all major characters from past seasons will return.<\/p>\n

The season will have a less \u201cpolished\u201d feel, as Lestat will have recently moved out of a dilapidated shack in New Orleans, and as such can’t really match the slightly more classy energy of the modernist penthouse in Dubai that the last seasons were set in. Similarly, most trailers for The Vampire Lestat<\/em> have shown the titular character in the midst of some sort of breakdown.<\/p>\n

The Vampire Lestat<\/em> will likely have a similar plot to the book it\u2019s based on, but still have extreme narrative changes in line with that of the first two seasons. There are roughly one hundred extra years between Lestat\u2019s and Louis\u2019 respective turnings in comparison to the books, and it\u2019s unclear what the show plans to do with those extra years.<\/p>\n

Despite the major changes this new season will make to both the show and the books, fans can rest assured that many plotlines introduced in past seasons will continue. When the new season releases, it will be the same story that fans know and love.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
