I can picture it so vividly right now. Coming into the school to experience… Well, I wasn’t quite sure, though I knew that it would be a captivating couple hours. I felt a twinge of nervousness in my stomach, I don’t know what it stemmed from: either the fact that I had forgotten that I needed cash to go see the films (keep that in mind, dear reader), or the fact that I was in one of those films. I quickly ran into the Auditorium where a seat was saved for me, with a bag of goodies that was shoved into my hands by my talented friends who had made the movie I had worked a little bit on. I idly waited for the event to start, and with the comment of the person behind me about “how I was supposed to heat the microwaveable popcorn in the previously mentioned goodie bag?” The lights dimmed and once the sound was sorted out, we began.

Firstly, all of the films, not only the ones that won, were absolutely amazing. I admit I know nothing about the production of a piece of art like that, but I had a tiny bit of knowledge from working on one of them to know that it was an extremely tedious and tremendous undertaking. I humbly say that I was charmed by every film, from an extremely funny, sweet, and… cheesy love story, to a powerful monotonous piece where the large turning point of the plot required putting butter in coffee. They were all beautifully conceived, the variety was definitely one of my favorite parts because it reminds me that so many people in Memorial are so creative and talented. In addition to films with plots, there also were a couple of musical features, which really were a testament to the artist’s incredible musical capabilities, but also their bravery and commitment, since I know that recording singing or instrumental music can turn out not in the way you wanted, so mad props for that.

In the end, there were always prizes.
