Unrivaled\u2014a three-on-three women\u2019s basketball league founded in 2023 by players Napheesa Collier and Brenna Stewart\u2014has just wrapped up its second season, and is already setting records. The league now boasts the highest attendance for a regular season game of professional women\u2019s basketball, with over 21,000 fans at a single match. That same game also set the highest attendance record for <\/span>any<\/span><\/i> event at the Xfinity Mobile Arena, where it took place, breaking the previous record set by the Backstreet Boys.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unrivaled currently has eight teams, with a nine-week season operating on a round-robin schedule. Play-offs are composed of the top four teams once regular play has concluded, and this year included Vinyl, Phantom, Breeze, and Mist Basketball Clubs. Mist and Phantom advanced to the final, and, after a fierce game, Mist BC was crowned the 2026 champions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The league also features a one-on-one single elimination tournament throughout February, which was won this year by Chelsea Gray. Gray also plays for the Las Vegas Aces during the WNBA season, and is the team captain of Rose BC, the winners of Unrivaled\u2019s 2025 inaugural team championship.<\/span><\/p>\n

The league was created for professional players to have a place to play domestically during the off-season, but has obviously outgrown its original intentions. Today, it\u2019s setting new standards for the treatment of women athletes. At the time of its founding, <\/span>it offered some of the highest salaries in women\u2019s sports<\/span><\/a>, and in terms of facilities, <\/span>it certainly outranks the frankly abysmal equipment provided to female athletes during March Madness in 2021<\/span><\/a>. It\u2019s clear that this by-athletes-for-athletes approach is aiming to reshape a stubborn system by sheer power of example.<\/span><\/p>\n

In <\/span>an interview with Popsugar<\/span><\/a>, Collier has also spoken on the community benefits, facilitating conversations about the lesser-known business aspects of professional athleticism and creating connections between players that usually only cross paths while opposing each other on the court.
