Kansas City Chiefs Move On To Third Super Bowl in 4 Years<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Almost a year ago, the Cincinnati Bengals eliminated the Kansas City Chiefs from the AFC Championship at Arrowhead in overtime. But this year, Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to their third trip to the Super Bowl in four years while playing through a high ankle sprain. In doing so, he also ended Joe Burrow and the Bengals\u2019 winning streak over the Chiefs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The game-winning drive happened under the 2-minute warning, in which Mahomes completed 1 of 2 passes for 6 yards and a critical 9-yard run that drew an \u201cunnecessary roughness\u201d call when Bengals\u2019 Joseph Ossai tackled Mahomes after the play was over. The penalty ultimately gifted the Chiefs a miraculous field goal opportunity, and kicker Harrison Butker nailed the 45-yard field goal to send his team to another championship.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Chiefs are set to face the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII on Feb. 12, and the outlook is promising. They accomplished much against Joe Burrow and the Bengals by sacking the third-year QB five times and forcing the Bengals to kick two field goals while in the red zone. Further, they had two crucial interceptions, one of which led to the game-winning field goal drive. However, more injuries have piled up for the Chiefs after three of their top six receivers left the game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Philadelphia Eagles Stomp Past the San Francisco 49ers<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Despite rookie QB Brock Purdy writing a Cinderella story starting 7-0 with the San Francisco 49ers, his streak came to an end on conference championship weekend after Jalen Hurts led his Eagles to a crushing 31-7 win in the NFC championship game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Eagles have come very far since their last Super Bowl win in 2017 against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. After barely clinching 4 wins in the 2020 regular season, coach Nick Sirianni turned things around by posting a 9-8 record the next season and leading an unstoppable force captained by QB Jalen Hurts, who was NFL-MVP frontrunner for most of the season.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although the Eagles defense didn\u2019t have many chances to shine due to Brock Purdy\u2019s early exit with a UCL injury, the Eagles\u2019 offense overwhelmed the 49ers\u2019 defense. RB Miles Sanders recorded 2 rushing TDs and Hurts also ran for one TD too, his third consecutive game with a rushing touchdown.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
